Types of Decorative Lightings

Decorative lighting in a home serves as both functional and aesthetic, whether it’s used for general ambient lighting, task lighting or accent lighting. A well-designed room has layers of lighting that cover all three lighting needs, although not all of it may necessarily be decorative.

Ceiling Fans With Light Kits

Ceiling fans with decorative light kits attached underneath the fan blades provide much-needed air circulation as well as light, making them a good option for rooms with high or vaulted ceilings. Light kits work independently from the fan blades, so the fixture can continue to circulate air when the lights are off, or the fan can be turned off when the lights are on. Fan blades come in many shapes and finishes, including wide, paddle-style blades, slender blades with a metallic finish and traditional wood blades in light, dark or white finishes. These fixtures work with any decorating style. It can be fix to anywhere in the house ie living room, bedrooms or even patio.

Chandeliers

Chandeliers consist of circular hanging fixtures with uplights, and occasionally downlights, attached to multiple arms. This type of fixture predates the use of bulbs and electricity and was powered by candlelight for centuries. Known best for the sparkle of hundreds of cut crystals, crystal chandeliers are just one of many types of chandeliers, which also come in a variety of sizes. Chandeliers fit well in traditional and rustic decorating styles and are used in practically any room of the home, from dining rooms to bathrooms.

Pendant Lighting

Hanging pendant lights provide a modern or contemporary alternative to traditional chandeliers, although the origins of pendant lights stretch even further back than chandeliers. Pendant lights may consist of a single hanging fixture or multiple hanging fixtures installed over dining room tables, kitchen islands, in entryways or over staircases, in living rooms, bedrooms or anywhere else you would find a chandelier or ceiling fixture. Large chandeliers and hanging pendants can easily become the focal point of a room.

Wall Sconces

Wall sconces typically provide both accent and ambient lighting, illuminating dark hallways or highlighting decorative wall decor. Styles range from contemporary fixtures with frosted glass and brushed nickel finishes to traditional lantern-style fixtures with antique brass or oil-rubbed bronze finishes. Pocket-style wall sconces with mica or art glass shades provide a warm glow, as do the candle style sconces that mimic antique wall fixtures.

Table and Floor Lamps

Portable lamps such as table and floor lamps position light exactly where it is needed. Lamps fill empty spaces as decorative accents while also providing task or accent lighting. Rustic styles made from wrought iron shades fit perfectly in lodge-style settings. Mission-style lamps feature square shades with simple geometric lines and forms, limited ornamentation and the vibrant hues of amber mica. Modern- and contemporary-style lamps include tall, arcing floor lamps and sculpted table lamps with bases of every conceivable shape and form, including stacked spheres, ceramic vases and open geometric squares or circles. Keep a unified look with decorative lighting that complements the style of your home and interior furnishings.

Choose the correct lightings is important to make your house look bright and to bring up your personality 😊
